Handing President Barack Obama a hard fought victory, the house narrowly approved a sweeping overhaul of the nations health care system on Saturday night, advancing legislation that democrats said could stand as their defining social policy achievement.The H.R 3962 Bill or the Affordable Health Care FOR America Act was passed by a vote of 220-215, paving the way for it to be taken debate in the 100-member senate where it needs 60 votes for its passage.

The 10-year, trillion dollar plan is aimed at extending health coverage to 36 million Americans who lack it now and preventing the insurance industry from denying coverage on the basis of pre existing medical condition and charging high premiums.“-in a historic vote, the house of Representatives passed a bill that would finally make real the promises of quality, affordable health care for American people” President Obama said after the passage of the bill.

On the other hand Republican condemned the vote and said they would oppose the measure as it proceeds on its legislative route. According to them this government take over has got a long way to go before it reaches the Presidents desks and they will continue to fight it tooth and nail at every turn.
