ICC-india-australiaGuwahati, Nov 8: India’s risk to bat first on a problematic wicket backfired heavily on them as they got suffered a 6 wicket defeat against the Aussies in the sixth ODI  allowing the visitors to wrap up the 7 match series, on Sunday, leaving the last match still to be held on Mumbai.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni won the toss & unexpectedly elected to bat first in a heavy weather conditions with a very tricky pitch to play. They were uncomfortable from the beginning while it was thoroughly a professional show by the world champions Australia getting out India for just 170 in 48 overs with a fabulous bowling performance and chased down the simple target slowly & steadily in 41.5 overs, losing just four wickets  to complete a simplistic win. On a slow track where the ball was turning sharply, Australia was on the victory with Shane Watson’s cool 49, Ricky Ponting (25) & Cameron White (25) to get closer to the target. Michael Hussey’s 35 (not out) along with Adam Voges (23 not out) later guided them home with a victory with 8.1 overs still to spare. India in the morning slumped to just 27 for 5 in 9 overs looking to be wrapped up within a 3 digit figure. Fortunately, Ravindra Jadeja’s 57 and Praveen Kumar’s unbeaten 54 didn’t give up the hopes and pushed the score to a limit of 170 in 48 overs. Doug Bollinger, the man of the match clicked his maiden 5 wicket haul (5/35) and Mitchell Johnson’s fiery (3/39) actually knocked India out from the crucial match and as well as from the series.
