India and Canada are finally tied up with the landmark agreement on the civil nuclear cooperation after hectic negotiations for long months, trying to pave the way to supply atomic technology, equipments and uranium from Canada to New Delhi after the gap of 34 years. The Canadian Prime Minister was in New Delhi for the meeting on November 17 where these two countries announced that they were already working for completing the civil nuclear deal.
All the negotiations for the nuclear deal were concluded during a meeting between ManMohan Singh, the prime minister of India and Stephen Harper, his Canadian counterpart on Commonwealth Summit. The two leaders described this deal as a milestone that can open tremendous opportunities for both the countries. The world’s largest uranium producer, Canada is now the eighth country that is has reached the civil nuclear agreement with India after the NSG laid a 34-year-old long ban for New Delhi for joining any global nuclear trade in last year in September. The countries that have already signed this civil nuclear deal with India are the US, Russia, France, Mongolia, Argentina, Kazakhstan and Namibia.
This civil nuclear agreement between India and Canada was delaying for a long time. Singh said that Harper has proved to be true on his words as he said that the negotiations must be completed in a very short period of time.
