The centre on Wednesday night conceded to the demand for separate telangana state. “The process of forming the state telengana will be initiated. An appropriate resolution will be moved in the state assembly,” said home minister P. Chidambaram announced late night.

It will be the first step towards creating India’s 29^th state. The congress was persuaded to take this state after telengana rashtra samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar rao’s health continued to detoritate as his fast-unto –death entered the 11^th day, and there were protest across the streets of the telengana region.  The decision was taken after the series of meeting through the day among the congress top brass, which included congress president and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior cabinet members. Andhra Pradesh chief minister K. Rossiah too flew to Delhi and joined discussions. The move also comes on the back from the strong demand from 5, congress MPs from telengana region- members from the Lok sabha and the rajya sabha to form a separate state.

“People of telengana have faith in you and its time that party keeps its promise to the people,” the MPs said in the letter to Gandhi. The MPs also assured her that the congress would be able to form government in the new state. As soon as the state assembly passes a resolution, a formality given in the mood in Andhra and the ball will be in the central government.
