Apple, the maker of iconic iphone , hit back in a legal row with nokia countersued the Finnish telecom giant alleging it breached the 13 apple patents.
Apple accused the nokia , the world’s largest phone maker of infringing the patents held by the Cupertino , California Company. “Other company must compete with us by inventing their technologies, not just stealing ours.” Said apple vice president Bruce swell said in a conference. The move came after nokia in October accused its US rival of infringing 10 nokia mobile technology patents with Iphone. According to nokia, the patents cover, “wireless data, speech coding, security, and encryption and are infringed by the all the iphone models shipped since the iphone introduced in 2007. Apple countersued in federal court in the eastern state of Delaware, where the nokia filed the suit against the apple. Nokia is trying to buoy a sinking position in the mobile telephone market by getting its hands on iphone technology and charging “exorbitant” fees for patent technology alleged intrinsic to industry standards apple charged.
Nokia demands appear to be driven by decline in its own mobiles phone business,” apple said. Apple reported quarterly sales of 7.4 million iphones in October. Nokia is already using apple smart phone without permission. Apple is asking the court to award its unspecified financial damage and dismiss the suit filed by nokia.
