Cuba President lashes out at Barrack Obama21 Dec, 2009, America

The President of Cuba, Raul Castro has lashed out at the US, accusing the Barack Obama’s administration of endorsing the efforts undermining the communist regime. In the annual address, Mr. Castro said that the US had sent a government contractor to supply the dissidents. The unnamed US citizen was detained a couple of weeks ago.

The concert was performed to an audience of thousands on Sunday forming a part of series of recent cultural exchanges between Cuba and the US showing the ties between them. Mr. Castro’s comments were first to acknowledge detention of the US citizen, who works for a Maryland-based development organization that regularly, carries out the work for US government’s agency for the international development.

The contractor is reported to have been detained while distributing the mobile phones as well as laptops. The US repeatedly has made requests for access to him.

Raul Castro also mentioned that the US had allocated some $55m for supporting a supposed democracy, the defense of human rights and aggression by radio or television against Cuba, apparently referring to Marti network that broadcasts to Cuba from US-run territory. The US President Barack Obama also has made many efforts to warm the relations between two states easing the 47-year-old US trade embargo against the Cuba, loosening travel restrictions for Americans in hope to visit Cuba and indicating that he would be open to dialogue with Cuba’s leaders.
