Flash Back of India- Sri Lanka Series

The collapse against Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan in Test matches of India against Sri Lanka had raised expectations from the Indian one-day team exponentially, but on 27th of August at night, when a group of men shouted and yelped at the Premadasa Stadium, nearly each and everyone give a standing ovation in appreciation to the Indian Team Performance. For India, this 3-2 victory, decorated by the extra ordinary efforts of their mid-pacers and the trustworthy bat of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, always proved a bit heavy on the Lankan tigers.
India’s batting was much better than that of the Lankans. Lankan batsman failed in even chasing small scores of India. India was the more reliable team and were the most deserving side to triumph the series, but it was not a completely glib triumph, as leaving Suresh Raina and Dhoni, India’s batsmen failed. Indian consistent opener Gautam Gambhir, after a well played Test series, had a totally unacceptable outing. He at no ocassions got past the Powerplays. His efforts to take on the medium-pacers led to his collapse. Same was the case for Yuvraj Singh, who got thrust and poked and just managing 72 runs in the series. Talented Rohit Sharma’s performance will also be under question after a deprived series, though proved out to be a sufferer of bad umpiring on two occasions.
